Thirty minutes walk every day will prevent weight gain and encourage moderate weight loss.You don't need to go to a gym or club.If you're busy, try short bursts of activity throughout the day. Walk often. Take the stairs. Park your car far away from your destination.

Eat healthy - Reduce fat intake, cut down on sugar and opt for fruits and vegetables. This helps reduce cholesterol and blood pressure. Healthy food will also lead to better blood sugar control.

Reduce stress - Not everything we want we get. We have to accept that there are things that we cannot control. Managing time is also of great importance too. We must allow ourselves enough time to get things done. Set a time during the day for relaxation. To relieve stress, try:

  • Yoga
  • Massage
  • Exercise
  • Healthy eating
  • Talking to a friend, family member, or professional counselor.

Improve sleep - Avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and other chemicals that interfere with sleep. Equip your bedroom with a comfortable mattress and pillows. Sleep in a dark clean and quiet environment.

Positive thinking - People who think positively have an optimistic view of life that affects their health and well-being. Optimism has been shown to explain between 5–10% of the variation in the likelihood of developing some health conditions, notably including cardiovascular disease,stroke, depression, and cancer.

Visit Your Doctor - Get regular checkups. Your doctor keeps track of your medical history and can help you stay healthy.Your doctor may recommend screening tests to keep an eye on your health and catch conditions early when they're easier to treat.

Create Healthy Habits

If you make the right choices today, you can ward off problems tomorrow.

  • Brush your teeth twice a day.
  • Don't smoke.
  • Limit your alcohol.
  • If you have medication, take it exactly how your doctor prescribed it.
  • Improve your sleep. Aim for 8 hours. If you have trouble getting shut-eye, talk to your doctor.
  • Use sunscreen and stay out of the sun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Wear your seatbelt.
